Ichigo Kurasaki has always been capable of seeing ghosts. His family is attacked by a hollow, a lost spirit. Ichigo becomes a soul reaper and dedicates his whole life to protect the innocent and assisting the lost souls in finding their way back to peace.
Ichigo thought that the Souls Reapers are the only one that hunts evil spirits, but there is something else which is equally capable of hunting Hollows, A Quincy, one of the last members of the clan that died almost 200 years ago. The Quincies prefer a direct approach to exorcise the Hollows, they kill them without hesitation. Uryu challenges Ichigo to a contest to demonstrate the superiority of the Quincy.
