Tanjiro is a boy living with his family and earns a livelihood by selling charcoals in the city in Taisho-era Japan. Demons are creatures who devours humans and Tanjiro’s family is killed by a demon. His sister Nezuko is the only one to survive but she is turned into a demon, but his brother refuses to abandon her and takes an oath to turn her sister back into a human by enlisting in Demon Slayer Corps in order to fight demons and learn the truth about them.
Tanjiro is the only surviving human along with his demon turned sister in his family after a demon tries to kill them all. On the path to turn his sister into human, he must venture into the world of demons, he must protect her from a guy named Giyu.
