But what defines a hero is the antagonist or villain and mainly the clash of ideas strike rivalry between them. It is believed that the villains are just like heroes except they lose hope and turn evil. Some have a very sad childhood and poor treatment from the society leaves them emotionless and cold-hearted. Some experience a great amount of pain in a young age and some witness something as a child which changes their perspective towards the world. 10. Askeladd
Vinalnd Saga is a historic themed anime which shows the wars, plots and strategies to conquer foreign lands and wealth. Askeladd’s first appearance is a bit iconic as he plans to bring Thors down who is travelling with his son Thorfinn and another man. Askeladd sets up Thors and kills him. This deceitful action angers Thorfinn that he swears to kill him. But he stays with Askeladd as he has nowhere to go now. When Askeladd dies in the end, Thorfinn is the one who is saddened the most. Which emphasizes on the relatioship they developed through this period. Askeladd is my favourite character in the series.
9. Light Yagami
The antagonist is from ‘Death Note’ anime where Light, who is a brilliant student gets bored of his life and that is when he discovers a strange empty notebook which says ‘Death Note’. Upon finding out the powers of the notebook, he decides to punish criminals in an attempt to make the world a better place. But not everyone supports him, he is labelled a criminal and a special task unit is assigned for him. His brilliance and his presence of mind helps him to evade authorities while committing crime right under their nose.
8. Tomura Shigaraki
Tomura Shigaraki, a victim of his own powers, has one of the most destructive powers in My Hero Academia. His life changes when a man lends him a hand to help. He is given powers that could obliterate anything. His sole purpose, to crush the Heroes to the very end as he despise the ideology of those heroes and the society admiring them. The character design and character writing is both done beautifully to give the viewers a proper antagonist for the main character.
7. Hisoka
Hisoka seems to be a creep around the kids and maybe he is. But he is powerful and that has been shown by how effortlessly he has killed his enemies. Hisoka just wants to spar with powerful individuals to get stronger. But he gets scary when he wants to be scary. Well designed character and well written too.
6. Mereum
This character is a very curious character in the series. Mereum is from hunter x hunter and when he becomes the Chimera Ants’ King he questions every idea and gains vast amount of knowledge during this. His hate towards humans decreases and he becomes a mature guy, which makes him a well written character in the HXH universe.
5. Donquixote Doflamingo
One piece is an anime with great diversity in terms of characters, plot and backstories. Donquixote Doflamingo was a former Noble who has to leave his royalty and live like the rest. This action of their parents led to their tortures and death along with Doflamingo and Corazon, his brother. This incident and experience shaped his life and point of view towards the world.
4. Itachi Uchiha
In the Naruto series, there are many characters who create a lasting impact on the viewers mind, but the one who became my favorite after the story is Itachi Uchiha. The very name is synonymous with greatness. Once known as the traitor of Konoha, Itachi helped the village win the fourth great Ninja War and restored his name and was titled the Hero of the Leaf Village. While everyone thought of Itachi as the destroy of Uchiha Clan, but he was something else as people later realized his true story. Itachi is one of the most powerful Uchiha and ninja of the entire anime series.
3. Blackbeard
One piece has a vast diversity of characters and it shows the size of this anime. Blackbeard was a former member of the whitebeard pirates, but he fled the ship after killing another crewmate and stealing his Devil Fruit. It is believed that Blackbeard haven’t slept in his life and he is some different kind of man. What scares the most is that he can have two devil fruit powers at the same time. Nobody in the One Piece Anime has done that. He must be insanely powerful for that feat.
2. Aizen
Sōsuke Aizen is a fictional character from the manga series Bleach created by Tite Kubo and the main villain of the first half of the series (and the most significant one for the entirety of the anime adaptation). He is the captain of the Fifth Division of Soul Reapers when he is first introduced. He later betrays the Soul Society. Aizen his believed to be so powerful yet that his abilities are not shown, like his Bankai power, that could shadow his Shikai and no one might be able to defeat him in his Bankai form.

He single handedly defeated all the Five-Kages of the five villages and didn’t break a sweat. He only wanted to fight Hashirama as he was the only one who could go toe to toe with Madara.
